  • We opened on September 6, 2022. Our school building has been here and operating as a preschool, however, since 1959!

  • During the school year, 3 mos—6 years; each class has their own classroom & restroom. For summer camp we welcome children ages 3 mos-8 years.

  • A regular day for children (during the school year and summer camp) is 8:30-3:00. Parents may drop off from 7:00-8:30, and pickup from 3:00-3:30.  After care (3:30-5:30) is available at an additional cost.  Please request a tuition sheet for more details on available options.

  • Each teacher will structure their schedule according to their class’s needs, but in general, in the morning there will be circle time/morning meeting, snack, center time, academic/developmental instruction and free play.  After lunch, there is nap/rest time (a state requirement according to age group), reinforcement of concepts from the morning, and free play.  Spending as much time exploring outside as possible is very important to us, so instruction will take place outdoors at times, even in the winter months (as long as it is above freezing).

  • Our classrooms are capped 12-14 children, with the exception of our infant classroom which is capped at 8 children per day.  With 2 staff members in each room, our class sizes are well below state child/staff ratios.

  • We use the Creative Curriculum, a NJ standards-based, hands-on academic & developmental toddler and preschool curriculum filled with fun center-based activities which promote growth, curiosity, persistence, cooperation, problem-solving, and school readiness in the areas of language/literacy, physical & socio/emotional health, science, math, creative arts, and social studies. We supplement in our Junior Pre-K, Pre-K, & year to grow classes with the Handwriting Without Tears program to enhance kindergarten readiness.

  • We expect that children in our Caterpillar, Butterflies, and Sprouts classes will not yet be toilet trained. At the time of enrollment we send home a toilet training questionnaire to help us assess and plan with you to meet your child’s individual needs. We are happy to assist you with toilet training.  In order to enter the Seedlings, Blossoms, & Morning Glories classes, however, we request that children be toilet trained if possible.

  • Yes! There are recording cameras in each classroom, as well as common areas, & outdoor play areas which are monitored in the office by our administrative staff. As part of our “open door policy, “ we invite families to pop in anytime to observe their child on the cameras in the office. Our cameras are the best way for parents to observe their child in their classroom, as they can do so unnoticed by their child. This allows families to see what their child (and teacher, classroom dynamics, etc.) is REALLY like when they’re not around! Note: camera footage is not available for families to review remotely.

  • At Garden Grove we place heavy emphasis on parent involvement and communication (including communication throughout each day about children’s basic needs AND socio-emotional state). One of the ways we do this is through frequent communication via our messaging feature in our childcare management software app, Procare. Not only can families and teachers message back and forth, but teachers will also regularly send pictures and videos of your child’s activities. Each month during the school year, your family will receive our monthly newsletter to keep you in the loop about upcoming events, important information, and other school goings on.

  • We run on a conventional school schedule.  We believe in the importance of providing our staff with healthy work-life balance, and part of the way we support this is by providing them with paid holidays and opportunities for professional growth.  Therefore, our school is closed on & around the following holidays:  Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving , Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & the following week, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Good Friday & the week following Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and transition time between summer camp and school programs.
